MILE 5.2 GREENHOUSE

USDA Census of Agriculture

Alaska greenhouse and nursery statistics

Current statewide and Anchorage-area figures for writers, local organizations, growers, and anyone looking for a reliable snapshot of protected growing in Alaska.

Last updated October 9, 2026. Figures below are from the 2022 Census of Agriculture, the latest full Census release.

Alaska’s greenhouse economy includes ornamental plants, nursery crops, and food grown under protection. The figures below keep those Census categories clear, so each number can be quoted with the right context.

How to read these figures

The Census uses several related categories. “Greenhouse, nursery, and floriculture production” is an industry classification. “Greenhouse vegetables and fresh-cut herbs” and “greenhouse fruits and berries” are product categories reported in the Alaska area tables. They should not be added together or treated as the same measure.

Sources and method

Every figure on this page comes from the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service 2022 Census of Agriculture. Dollar figures are reported Census sales, not estimates by Mile 5.2 Greenhouse. The one percentage shown is calculated from the published 2017 and 2022 farm counts.
